Abingdon Grill

Got delivery after hearing great things about Abingdon Grill on the Bel Air Facebook group. Our food arrived freezing cold. We ordered the calamari appetizer to share and it came with 5 pieces of calamari and a huge tub of marinara sauce. I ordered the Abingdon salad with shrimp and received no dressing. The lettuce was slimy and well passed edible (see photo, I added dressing from my fridge). Very disappointed especially given how much we spent.

My family of 13 was looking for a new & different place in Harford County to celebrate my birthday & Veteran's Day for my husband. My daughter, called and we were placed on the reservation list. It was a very clean & brightly lit restaurant. The owner pleasantly greeted us at the door. He had a wonderful area set-up in the back portion with a very long table, everything set w menu's & utensils, & provided the children with a small art package to keep them entertained. Once everyone arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by our server, John, to take our drink orders, and allow time to review the large menu, with a wide variety of choices and several specials of the day. John promptly returned and took our orders, asking specifics & offering specific helpful tips. Our food was delivered with accuracy. John provided exceptional service, checking on us often & to provide refills on our drinks. His memory as to what every one ordered was exceptional, he should be recognized for his admirable service provided. The food was absolutely delicious, most notable Spaghetti & Meatballs, The French Dip & Fried Pickles. We will be back, and hopefully will try the Bread Pudding. The owner came back to talk to my husband before we left to ask how everything was & told us to come.back, he told my husband how much he appreciated our support of his business. A great find!

The Abingdon Grill is a nice local place with basically all you should want for a restaurant. When I visited it was clean, I was seated promptly at a sanitary table and got my drinks, appetizers, and order taken promptly. Service was exceptional in general. My drink was refilled when I needed it, and empty plates were removed quick as well. The food tended to come out at a good speed so I wasn't waiting too long. And when I requested a container for leftovers I got a perfectly-sized box for my dessert and a separate cup for the ice cream which was great. The food was delicious. My appetizer of choice was bacon-wrapped scallops, and they were cooked great with juicy bacon and a great sauce drizzled over the top. My steak was one of the tastiest I'd had in a long time, so it was seasoned greatly and cooked well, with a very delicious side of mashed potatoes. Then the dessert. Oh, I had longed for some bread pudding and they serve a thick, thick slab of it with a real good ice cream. It was super good. I'll definitely be coming back, and the best part of it all was the whole meal was well-priced.

The food was good. The menu says the French dip sandwich comes with au jus, but it was a thick brown gravy consistency, which I wasn't expecting, but it still tasted fine. The French onion soup was delicious. For how dead the restaurant was on a Sunday evening, I felt we waited a little too long for our food bit it still wasn't a terrible wait. Overall, I would come back to try other items on the menu.

The food was ok. The server was very nice. I'll give them another try when they've been open a while. UPDATE Our visit tonight was AMAZING. We ordered crab soup, crab dip with pretzel roll, and meatballs. All were very good. The entree was dijonise breadcrumb crushed cod with veggies and it was absolutely perfect. Ended the meal with cinnamon caramel bread pudding with ice cream and it was perfect. Dan gave great service. We will be back.

Amazing new little hole in the wall place. Inside was clean and had a comfy/ cozy feel. Good was excellent. Better then most places you'll find on a 60 mile radius. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They have a party room that holds up to 70 people you can book for no extra charge. Great beer or tap including local brewery. Highly recommend. Will be my go to sit down restaurant from now on.
